Brad Cary celebrates his election victory for Ward 4 in Arnold.

A commanding election night has ushered in a new voice for Ward 4 in Arnold, Missouri, as Brad Cary defeated incumbent Gary Plunk with nearly 74 percent of the vote in a higher-than-expected turnout.

For Cary, the margin was not just a win, it was a reflection of months spent building relationships and listening directly to residents.

“I think it has a lot to do with getting out and actually speaking with the voters. And also the presence that I’ve built over time being in the community.”

Brad Cary

A Community-Rooted Candidate

Cary enters the role with deep ties to Jefferson County. A lifelong resident, he is the owner of Unrivaled Realty and currently serves as President of the Arnold Chamber of Commerce.

Those roles, he says, have shaped how he views leadership and representation.

“I work every day with small business owners and individuals,” Cary said. “Small businesses feel like they’ve been left behind… hopefully I can be a voice for them and for residents as well.”

His visibility in the community, through business, events, and civic involvement, was a key part of his campaign and, ultimately, his success at the polls.

From Policy Frustration to Public Service

One of the defining moments that pushed Cary to run for office came from a local policy issue affecting homeowners and contractors.

He recently led efforts to appeal occupancy regulations that required permits before work could begin on certain properties. The policy had created delays, fines, and complications for residents purchasing homes “as-is.”

Through his advocacy, the city adjusted its approach.

That experience, Cary said, showed him both the impact of local policy and the importance of having someone willing to step in and fix it.

Priorities: Accountability and a Path Forward

As Cary steps into office, his immediate focus is clear: understanding and responding to the recently released state audit report that dominated conversation leading into election day.

“It's definitely top of citizens’ minds,” he said. “More questions have entered, and evaluating and moving forward from the findings is important.”

Rather than rushing to conclusions, Cary emphasized a measured approach, one centered on transparency and communication.

He wants to fully understand the findings, determine whether new policies are needed, and help guide the city forward in a way that restores confidence.

A Changing City Hall

This election cycle saw multiple incumbents voted out across Arnold, signaling a shift in leadership and, potentially, direction.

Cary acknowledges that the transition will bring challenges, particularly with several newcomers stepping into public office for the first time.

“It will definitely be a role to learn from,” he said. “But we hope to come in with an open mind, make big changes, and move forward.”

Listening First

If there was one theme Cary heard repeatedly while knocking on doors, it was this: residents want to be heard.

“The biggest thing was that people felt like they weren’t heard because they never heard from people in office,” he said.

Cary’s response is simple. Be accessible.

He has already made it clear that communication will be a two-way street, encouraging residents to reach out, attend meetings, and stay engaged.

“People can’t fix things you don’t tell them about,” he said. “But if you’re never around, it’s hard to tell somebody that.”

A Message to Arnold

In closing, Cary offered a message to both supporters and skeptics.

“To those that voted for me, thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he said. “To those who didn’t, thank you for being open-minded and speaking your voice… I look forward to winning your vote in the future.”

With a decisive victory and a platform rooted in accessibility, transparency, and local engagement, Cary now steps into office with both momentum and expectations as Arnold looks toward its next chapter.
