Rold: From a Family Favorite to a Community Staple
There are some businesses that feel like they were built in a boardroom.
And then there are businesses like Rold, built in a kitchen late at night, surrounded by family, fueled by creativity, and carried forward by a community that believed in them from the very beginning.
For Clarissa and Coleton Politte, it all started with a simple idea: take the foods they love and wrap them into something new.
What followed was anything but simple.
A Kitchen Idea That Took Off Overnight
It didn’t begin with a business plan. It began with a menu, a little confidence, and one big leap.
After perfecting early recipes like their Sloppy Joe and Cheeseburger egg rolls, Coleton had a thought. These are too good not to share.
He took a menu to work.
By the end of the day, they had orders for over a thousand egg rolls.
They went home and got to work.
No huge kitchen equipment. No staff. Just the two of them, rolling late into the night.
And just like that, Rold was born.
Built on Family, Fueled by Hard Work
In those early days, life didn’t slow down. It sped up.
They were balancing full time jobs, raising four kids, and figuring out how to run a food business on the fly. Events meant showing up hours early, rolling and cooking everything on site, managing equipment, and getting it right every time.
It was chaotic. It was exhausting. And they loved it.
Because at the center of it all was something bigger than food. It was their family.
More Than a Business
Running a business as a married couple is not always easy.
There are long nights and tough decisions. But through it all, it has made them stronger.
What they are building is not just a food stand.
It is a legacy.
Something their kids can watch grow from the ground up. Something built with hard work, heart, and a little creativity.
Where Familiar Foods Get a New Twist
There is something different about Rold, and it goes beyond what’s in the box. It is the creativity behind it.
To them, an egg roll is a blank canvas.
They take familiar flavors and turn them into something unexpected.
Savory favorites include Cheeseburger, Spinach Artichoke, Jalapeño Popper, and seasonal options like the Reuben. Their signature STL Roll, inspired by toasted ravioli, has quickly become a fan favorite.
Then come the dessert rolls that keep people coming back. Strawberry Cheesecake, Cherry Cheesecake, and Boston Creme Pie all hit that perfect balance of flavor and nostalgia.
Some ideas come from family recipes. Others come from conversations in the truck on the way to an event. And sometimes, they just try something, and it works.
From savory to sweet, every roll tells a different story. |

The Moment That Keeps Them Going
What they love most isn’t just the cooking. It is the people.
It is watching someone take that first bite. It is seeing families share a box together. It is when someone walks away and then comes right back in line.
That reaction is what drives everything they do. Creating that wow moment when their customers want more.
A Community That Showed Up
From the beginning, the Jefferson County community has been behind them.
They’ve built their following by being authentic. Sharing the wins, the chaos, and the real story behind the scenes.
And in return, the community showed up.
